In
November of 2001, Julia Child gave her Kitchen to the Smithsonian’s National
Museum of American History, Behring center. Her husband designed it for her in
1961 where she cooked for herself, family, friends, professional Colleagues, and
the entire country. The kitchen was a set for several years for here extremely
popular public-television series. Not only did Julia Child use this kitchen for
a set, but for other reasons. She gave cooking lessons, cooked for and with
colleagues, and tested out new recipes for her cookbooks. This kitchen
represents Julia’s impact on the way Americans think about their food and its
history.
