Julia
has truly made a huge impact in the culinary world. Julia’s expertise and inspiration
came from years of learning how to cook. After She attended the Cordon Bleu culinary
school, she made teaching others how to cook, and about the pleasures of eating,
her lifelong mission.
Julia’s great love for the French countryside,
people and food, left her longing for France and it became her “spiritual
homeland”. This love inspired her to
introduce the American people to French cooking by writing cookbooks, writing
columns for numerous publications and magazines, and even creating and
developing a televisions series.
She is best known as the first celebrity
TV chef. In 1963 Boston’s WGBH aired her
television series, The French Chef.
Millions of American women and men copied and followed her methods in
their own homes, and she became a household name. Her cookbooks lined the shelves of many
kitchens. In 1993, Julia was the first
woman included into the Culinary Institute Hall of Fame.
No one can deny that Julia was an
inspiration in the creation of the now popular Food Network cable television
station.
She has impacted many people’s lives
such as Julie Powell. She lives in Queens, New York and is on a mission. She is
going to make every single recipe in Julia Child’s 1961 classic book “Mastering
the art of cooking.” She calls it the “Julie/Julia Project.” There were 524
recipes and she has now completed all of them at the age of 32.
Another person she has inspired is my
mother. My mom has her own cooking show called “Hey Kids, Lets Cook.” Julia has
inspired her to make the show the success it is. My mom was encouraged by
others, but mainly Julia because she made she had been such a success.
And in her later years Julia was
quoted as saying, “Learn how to cook-try new recipes, learn from your mistakes,
be fearless, and above all have fun!”.
