In 1948 Paul was stationed to Paris, France. Immediately, Julia came to love the French way of life and especially the French food. She decided that she wanted to learn more about French cooking and she enrolled at the Cordon Bleu cooking school. She began writing her first cook book at this time with some other partners. In the 1950’s, she co-founded a cooking school, L’Ecole des Trois Gourmandes.

“The best way to describe it is to say that I fell in love with French food- the tastes, the processes, the history, the endless variations, the rigorous discipline, the creativity, the wonderful people, the equipment, and the rituals.”
